ADAS BACKUPS

 

We’ve had an increasing number of dealerships that have had computers stolen, crashing, virus infections, ransomware, and malware attacks occurring. Dealerships without backups have lost ALL their information including their ADAS Database, sometimes going back years that is lost permanently.

The only solution to this is to ensure that backups are performed daily and that they are preferably performed off-site where viruses or ransomware cannot destroy the backups or where an external hard drive with backups cannot be stolen from the dealership itself.

Backups of the ADAS Database is the responsibility of the dealership and not that of ADAS Software; however, we do offer backup solutions:

① ADAS LOCAL BACKUPS, (Performed on dealership computer)
② ADAS LOCAL CLOUD BACKUPS, (Performed on dealership computer) and
③ ADAS CLOUD SERVER BACKUPS.

① ADAS LOCAL BACKUP (Local-to-Local)

This facility is available for a dealership where the ADAS Database or System is stored on a computer at the dealership’s premises (i.e., locally). The ADAS LOCAL BACKUP Facility is performed daily and automatically from the local ADAS Database to a local device, such as a hard drive or flash drive etc. automatically.

Advantages:

Disadvantages:

A backup is most likely being performed. The daily backups of the last two months will be saved.

No backup can be performed if the PC with the ADAS Database on is unavailable/off at the time of the backup. No backup can be performed if the backup destination (such as a hard drive) is unavailable or there is no Internet at the time of backup. The ADAS Database can still be infected by a virus or malware. A responsible employee must manually check daily that the daily backup has been performed in case one of the above has occurred.

Cost:

• Local Backup Installation and Set-Up Fee = R295.00 (once-off)
• Backup Recovery Fee = R350.00

② ADAS LOCAL CLOUD BACKUP (Local-to-Cloud Server – Recommended)

This facility is available for a dealership where the ADAS Database or System is stored on a computer at the dealership’s premises (i.e., locally), but wants their backups to be held off-site on a cloud server. A facility is installed that enables daily backups to be performed automatically to our ADAS Cloud Server where the dealership’s database is backed up off-site from the dealership.

Advantages:	Disadvantages:
A backup is being performed off-site. The daily backups of the last two months will be saved.	No backup can be performed if the computer with the ADAS Database on is unavailable/off at the time of the backup. No backup can be performed if there is no Internet at the time of backup. A responsible employee must manually and by email check daily that the daily backup has been performed in case one of the above has occurred.

Cost:

• Local Backup Installation and Set-Up to ADAS Server Fee = R550.00 (once-off)
• Local Backup to ADAS Cloud Storage Fee = R150.00 (per month)
• Backup Recovery Fee = R550.00 (once-off)

③ ADAS CLOUD SERVER BACKUP (Cloud Server-to-Cloud Server – Highly Recommended)

Pre-requisite: Dealer’s ADAS must run on the ADAS Cloud Server

The ADAS CLOUD SERVER BACKUP facility forms part of the ADAS Cloud Server setup (as explained above) where a backup of the ADAS Database is performed daily and automatically from the cloud server to a separate ADAS Cloud Server.

Advantages:Limitations	Limitations:
A backup is being performed off-site daily. The backups of the last two months will be saved. No manual checks need to be performed since ADAS Software will be notified daily by email if the Backups were done or not.	The speed at which the server is experienced by the user depends on the connection speed of the user. Therefore, it is important to ensure that your Internet connection speed is adequate (30 – 50 Mbps).

Cost:
